One of the oldest homes in Suez Township. Built in 1856 Built by James Overton Edwards, son of a wealthy Kentuckian Bricks for the home were made on the property with kilns owned by the Edwards family
Brick mansion was named “Overton Hall”  “Overton Hall” also known as the “Party House” was the center of Suez Township society Overton Hall became a popular stopping place for travelers
Many events were held at the house including formal balls, informal get togethers, taffy pulls, teas, quilting parties, township meetings, and other neightborhood affairs   James and Eleanore Edwards sold Overton Hall to Asa Ransom of  New York in Oct 1870
